Our Shop is Open!

ShopAnnnounce

I’m so excited to tell you that our shop is finally open on Storenvy.com!

I know it has taken me longer than expected to get it up and running, but I did not forget! I hope we are able to donate even more to Food Runners this holiday season!

I put all the tissue box cozies I’ve currently been sent, and I also put up some cute blue ribbon acrylic pins! Check it all out!

I would still love to add more to our shop, so if you’d like to make and submit a tissue box cozy, see all the info on the “Hello!” page!

I’m excited to make our first donation to Food Runners! Thanks so much for those of you who already sent in your wonderful tissue cozies! We do have some left over, so I’m figuring out the best way to set up an online shop and get them posted ASAP.

I hope you’ve all had a great holiday, and I wish everyone a happy new year!

Free Pattern: Chiffon Cake with Fruit Topping (Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice, cube box)

FRUITBIGsmall

I got an order in my Etsy shop forĀ  this custom tissue cozy. It’s a combination of this pattern for the main body of the cake and the toppings from my free Michaels.com pattern.

Fruit close

It took me a minute to figure out how I wanted to arrange the fruit on top, since there isn’t a lot of room to work with, plus, you can’t really put fruit over the tissue opening! But I think it turned out really cute!

Free Pattern: Loopy White Cake with Strawberry Filling and Strawberries on Top (Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice, Cascade 220)

loopf1bigsmall

This pattern is really similar to the Yellow Cake with Chocolate Frosting, except we use loop stitch to create a fun texture for the exterior frosting.

Bakery Mail!

Michele&Heather

I’m BEYOND excited that some of your tissue box cozies are starting to come in!! Pictured here is a Birthday Girl Cake by Michele M., and a Candy Cane Crush Cake by Heather B. The very sweetest part is that these both came in the same package because Michele and Heather are friends.

Thank you so much! Keep ’em coming! Renegade Craft Fair is December 21-22, so you still have time to whip something up and send it on over!

Etsy Pattern: Cherry Pie!

CPMain

I just added the pattern for my Cherry Pie Tissue Box Cozy to my Etsy shop! I would suggest it for advanced beginners or intermediate crocheters. I just re-vamped the lattice pie crust, and I love how it turned out!

Free Pattern: Citrus Twist – Lemon, Lime, Orange

Citrus5

This is a quick pattern for a lemon, lime, orange, or citrus slice to add on top of your cozies!

In the past, I have crocheted these with Cascade 220, since it comes in so many great colors, but I modified the pattern a little bit for a more regular worsted weight yarn, like Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice, because it is more accessible in stores.

For any kind of citrus slice, there will usually be three colors: A) the fruit flesh color, which is general more pale than the skin, B) white, or the rind color, C) the skin color.

Free Pattern: Yellow Cake with Chocolate Frosting (Red Heart Soft, Deborah Norville Everyday Worsted, cube box)

ChocolateYellowCakeSmall

This pattern is basically the cube-shaped version of white Chiffon Cake, with the major difference being that this cozy will show the “inside” of the cake with some cake layers and frosting.

I chose Red Heart Soft for the chocolate because I think it’s a really nice, rich color. I generally prefer working with Vanna’s Choice, since I like the feel of it personally, but you really can’t beat the color here of the Red Heart Soft. I chose Deborah Norville Everyday Soft Worsted for the yellow, because it is really bright, saturated, and kind of a cartoony version of what I imagine yellow cake to be. But you can pick your favorite cake flavor and frosting flavor to work up this cozy. (You can click on photos to enlarge them.)

The Inspiration for TBB’s New Color Scheme!

So, if anyone has started checking out the site, you’ll notice that I just changed up the color scheme and general feel of the place!

While clicking around the internet, I suddenly realized that my previous colors had been really close to the colors on another popular crochet designer’s website. It’s a color scheme I am generally fond of, and I was a bit sad to let it go, but my new inspiration for this site’s look is getting me all fired up again! Retro Bakery Time!

Here’s the image I fell in love with that gave me my Eureka moment! Vintage Schilling sprinkles!

This is definitely helping me formulate ideas for our Tissue Box Bakery hangtags. I’m also gonna make a little blue ribbon graphic for people to put on their blogs/websites who donate cozies. It will say “I’m a Tissue Box Baker!”

But don’t worry. I’m also working on getting up more sample patterns for you guys. I know the clock is ticking for us to get our cozies together by Dec 21 – 22 for Renegade Craft Fair, SF. I spent all night building the PHOTO page to at least give you guys some visual ideas for your projects.

Thank you for following along! More soon! xo

Free Pattern: Turkey Tissue Box with Roasted Veggies

TurkeystarI realize that this is not a cake at all, but, it’s still a tissue box cozy! The pattern is free at Michaels.com and includes the turkey, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, and lettuce dish cloth.

Carrotssmall

If you wanted to, you could use this pattern for baby carrots on a carrot cake tissue cozy.

tomatoessmall

If you leave the tops off the tomatoes, they can instantly become cherries :).
